What we offer
At Skelian, all of our practitioners from our Chiropractors, Sports Therapists to our Specialist Physiotherapist are trained in rehabilitation. Many of us have personal experience with rehab for sports injuries.
All our bodies are different, and we all have different problems, different weaknesses, and different lifestyles. As a result, rehabilitation needs to be tailored to each individual, and our practitioners are very good at this.
Some patients will receive a set of simple exercises to do at home, whereas others will need more careful supervision. For example in recovering from a disc injury. Usually, a progression through different exercises and techniques is required over a period of weeks, or sometimes months. Unlike stretching exercises, where you often feel the benefit immediately, strengthening takes longer to achieve results. However, it is worth it, because there is strong evidence that rehabilitation is an effective tool in managing chronic back pain and preventing relapses.
What to expect
Your practitioner will carry out a thorough assessment of your injury or problem and following treatment, may prescribe a set of exercises to strengthen key muscles in order to aid the recovery of your injury. Our practitioners use a holistic approach. They will also ask you questions about your nutrition, lifestyle and work demands to create a rehabilitation programme that is best suited to your needs. Some injuries need careful supervision from the practitioner and in other cases, patients are able to perform their rehab exercises at home and report progress back to their practitioner. Our practitioners are all on hand to answer any queries you may have throughout your programme and adapt it if required.
