Jamie has been amazing. I was in such constant pain and couldn't do my regular exercise. Each appointment has brought marked improvement - and the emphasis is on fewer treatments not dependency. Highly recommend!

I have just had a 2 stage shoulder revision operation carried out on 5th February & as my arm has been in a sling since April last year my elbow has got very stiff so after seeing my consultant the other week & the physio at the hospital I decided to come to get extra help in between physio appointments. I have seen Will twice now & I can already feel an improvement with the movement & pain, he takes time to listen to any concerns you have & puts you at ease by explaining everything he is going to do. All the receptionists are very nice & always very cheerful even if they are having a bad day. I recommend this is the clinic to choose if you want excellent treatment at a reasonable price with free car parking on site & I have been to a few other clinics in the past but not a welcoming as this one.

After suffering from recent back pain, I have had several massages from Dani. These have helped hugely to relieve the pain and loosen up the muscles to move freely again. Dani takes time to understand the problem history and really put you at ease. As someone who has had back pain on and off over the years and had countless massages treatments, I can confidently say that Dani is very skilled at what she does and has a natural gift for massage.

Really great first ever experience for me at a Chiropractor. Amanda on reception was brilliant with me, whilst waiting for my appointment she chatted and calmly eased my nerves as a first timer. Likewise for Jamie, he made things so easy, explained everything clearly and really made sure I understood the whole process. Genuinely impressed on how they handled the whole process, definitely recommend!

Both me and my husband have received fantastic chiropractic care from Victoria and she is now our 'go-to' chiropractor. Recently, I hobbled in with painful lower back sprain and sciatica, which Victoria fixed in just two sessions. Her attention to detail and care is brilliant, and she has a lovely manner which puts you at ease. I've had chiropractic care before but was really impressed by the service here. Highly recommend Victoria and the team at Skellian.

I went to see Jamie with neck problems which were causing dizziness. After just 3 visits I am feeling much better, my neck feels much more relaxed. Not only has my neck improved but Jamie also found that some of the dizziness may be coming from an ear problem. At the last visit he carried out some manipulation and last night I only had a very short episode of dizziness as I turned over in bed. It is very reassuring to know that I can see Jamie when needed and I will get relief.

Fantastic treatment, can't recommend them enough. Tom helped with my various aches and joint pain from running and also gave me so much advice for my upcoming half marathon. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and very accommodating- helping to sort last minute appointments and change/alter when needed. I have seen a few different chiropractors at the clinic and they have all been very knowledgeable and explained everything so clearly. Tom particularly has been great and got me back out running pain-free.

Foot pain

Foot pain is a common complaint that can arise from a variety of conditions affecting any part of the foot, from the toes to the heel. The complexity of the foot’s structure – which includes bones, joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments – makes it susceptible to injury and various painful disorders.

Conditions That Cause Foot Pain

Plantar Fasciitis

This is the most common cause of heel pain, resulting from inflammation of the plantar fascia, the ligament that connects your heel bone to your toes.

Achilles Tendinitis

Inflammation of the Achilles tendon, which connects the calf muscles to the heel bone, often due to overuse or degeneration.

Metatarsalgia

Pain and inflammation in the ball of the foot, commonly caused by high-impact sports or ill-fitting shoes.

Bunions

A bony bump that forms on the joint at the base of the big toe, causing the toe to deviate towards the others.

Hammertoe

A deformity where the toe is bent at the middle joint, often resulting from tight shoes or muscle imbalance.

Arthritis

Degenerative (osteoarthritis) or inflammatory (rheumatoid arthritis) conditions can affect the joints in the feet, leading to chronic pain and disability.

Diabetic Neuropathy

High blood sugar levels associated with diabetes can damage nerves in the feet, leading to pain, tingling, or loss of sensation.

Fractures

Acute or stress fractures in the bones of the foot can cause severe pain and are often related to trauma or repetitive stress.

Treatments for Foot Pain

The treatment for foot pain largely depends on the underlying cause. Here are some general approaches:

Rest and Ice

For acute injuries or flare-ups of chronic conditions, rest and ice can help reduce inflammation and pain.

Medications

Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or naproxen can alleviate pain and inflammation. In some cases, stronger prescription medications may be necessary.

Orthotics

Custom shoe inserts prescribed by a chiropractor or podiatrist can correct structural issues and distribute pressure more evenly.

Physiotherapy

Exercises and stretches can strengthen foot muscles, improve flexibility, and reduce pain.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractors can provide adjustments and manipulations to alleviate pain and improve function.

Surgery

In severe cases, surgical intervention may be required to correct deformities or repair damaged structures.

Treatment Options for Foot Pain

Conservative Treatments

These include rest, ice, compression, elevation (RICE), physical therapy, and orthotics.

Diagnostic ultrasound

This form of imaging is offered at the clinic to help accurately identify the cause of the problem.

Physiotherapy

Hands-on care with bespoke exercises to target the pain.

Chiropractic Adjustments

Skelian Chiropractic Clinic specialises in adjustments that can help improve the movement of bones of the foot and reduce pain.

Lifestyle Changes

Weight management, proper footwear, and avoiding activities that exacerbate the pain are crucial.

Advanced Therapies

Laser therapy, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation are some of the advanced treatments available for foot pain.
